XBox 360 Price Drop By Christmas?
Rumours are growing of a universal price drop for the XBox 360 by Christmas, with some time in September looking increasingly likely. Peter Moore, the head of Microsoft Interactive Entertainment Business division, is reported to have stated that $199 (£100) is a console’s “sweet spot”, and that is what the company hope to achieve sooner rather than later.
Microsoft have gone in to denial mode with David Hufford saying “With Xbox 360s selling well at their current price point, Elites selling out at $479, and an insanely great portfolio of games in the market, there’s no reason to announce any kind of price drop anytime soon.”
So whether this rumour will actually come true is still up for debate. I think Microsoft would be mad to not take the bull by the horns, and grab the chance to bury Sony while they are still floundering from the botched launch. If a 360 cost less than $300 (£150) by the end of this year, then I can see it being on a lot of people’s lists to Santa, mine included.

Of course, since I have an 11 year old son, and I am a sucker, I always buy the newest gaming systems (and games) when they first come out. I never wait (like a smart person) for sales or deals.

It’s on our list. Hubby really wants Halo 3. A price drop would be wonderful.

Well i for one loving the games and having 6 game consols would liek to see teh price drop on the 360. but it is liek you said remains to be seen. fantastic info.

I usually wait a year or two when new systems come out, because they always end up on sale before too long.
Hopefully it does go down in price, as more people could then afford it.

Matt, I do the same as you, always wait at least a year, and then make an informed choice. If the price comes down, xbox will win the next gen war, guaranteed.
Sally, Not as far as I know, though with Microsoft you never quite know. There’s been talk of making a Wiimote type peripheral though.
