The View - Same Jeans
This is my song of the week, well I’m a week early as it’s not out until next Monday the 15th January. It’s a great single by Scottish band The View, hailing from just outside Dundee. They’ve been around for nigh on 2 years now but haven’t really had much coverage or success until they may do with this potential chart topper. Take a look at the video and let me know what you think. Personally, I find it an instantly appealing slice of indie goodness, which is ultra catchy…
Their debut single ‘Wasted Little DJs’ , reached number 15 in the UK charts in August of last year. Even though that was a great song in it’s own right, I’m tipping this one to outdo that as they now have some impetus behind them and a good tune which should appeal more across the board.
I feel they have quite an affinity with bands like The Libertines and Babyshambles, the latter of which they’ve supported in the past. As for ‘Same Jeans’, it’s one of those songs that sound like you’ve heard it before but can’t quite put your finger on where and when. Someone on You Tube has commented on the song being a rip off of ‘Brimful Of Asha’ by Cornershop, which once I’d read that, I could see. Is it does half as well as that, I’m sure the band will be happy.
The album called ‘Hats Off To The Buskers’ is out on January 22nd, and if it follows the same style and pattern as this song, I’ll be buying it asap. There are a couple of great fansites if you want to know more about the band, TheViewBand and TheViewFansite.
