Take That Back For Good?
It’s happened. I can’t believe it but it’s true, Take That are back on top! Yes, 10 years after they initially split up, the former boy band and now man band are back in business and topping both the single and album charts in the UK. This is their 3rd week with the number 1 single ‘Patience’ and their first with the album ‘Beautiful World’. This new album has got rave reviews, and not just from the hardcore fans who have held on to the hope of a reunion since Robbie left all those years ago.

So what’s going on in the world to make this possible? It’s been 10 years since the former idols and pin ups (of both gay and straight) split up, and now they’re back doing what they do best and seemingly being very successful at it. And this time of course, there is one member missing, the Robster, Mr. Robbie Williams isn’t taking part in the reunion. On their recent sell out tour he did contribute a video of himself for some of the big hits though, which the remaining members had playing in the background.
I’m not normally one for comebacks, thinking and wishing bands and groups should leave us with their glory days fresh in our minds. So often they try and recapture the sound and feel of their former hits and fail spectacularly. All Saints are a good recent example, with their first comeback single failing to light up the charts at all and disappearing before it had even arrived. But there seemed to be a clamouring for a Take That reunion and they are giving the long-term fans what they want. One reason may be because Take That fans were generally 12-18 at the time and so are now the prime CD buying public. Maybe they want to recapture their teenage years, maybe they still have the hots for little Mark Owen, who knows. See what you think of the new single and video…
Whatever the reason, it’s working, and from what I saw on Saturday night’s ‘An Audience With’, Take That still have people eating out of their hands. Do you think it’ll last? Maybe Robbie will get jealous and want back in? Only time will tell.

For such a great songwriter, I always wondered why he couldn’t make it on his own tbh.

[...] The concert is scheduled for July 1st 2007, which would have been the late princess’ 46th birthday. Expected performers are likely to include Elton John, who so eloquently sang at Diana’s funeral, and George Michael. Both of who were great friends of the princess during her life. There are also very early rumours that this could be just the right occasion for the Spice Girls to reform. After the success of Take That this year, the girls must all be realising how much potential there is in getting back together. [...]
