Spice Girls Reunite For World Tour
The Spice Girls are back! The news that everyone has expected for months has finally been confirmed with the Spice Girls announcing a reformation for a huge world tour and Greatest Hits album.
The five’s reunion has been speculated since talks began for them to appear at the ‘Concert for Diana‘ happening this Sunday for the tenth anniversary of her death. The rumours have been rife ever since, and Geri, Mel B, Mel C, Victoria and Emma finally confirmed the tour this morning at a press conference in London.

The world tour will take place in December and January, starting in Los Angeles and ending in Buenos Aires. Here’s a full list of the cities and dates, although venues have yet to be announced…
Los Angeles - 7th December 2007
Las Vegas - 8th December
New York - 11th December
London - 15th December
Koln - 20th December
Madrid - 23rd December
Beijing - 10th January 2008
Hong Kong - 12th January
Sydney - 17th January
Cape Town - 20th January
Buenos Airies - 24th January
Expect extra dates to be added as tickets sell out and interest rises. To register for updates and a chance to buy tickets to the comeback concerts, visit the Spice Girls website and enter your details when prompted. I’ve already signed up as although I wasn’t exactly their biggest fans the first time around, I’d love to see them back live.
The concert is being billed as “a once in a lifetime opportunity” and “the last chance to dance“, but if this is a success I wouldn’t bet against the girls getting back together longer term and maybe producing new material together. It worked for Take That superbly, and I can see this being even bigger. Love them or loathe them, the all encompassing girl group of Baby, Posh, Scary, Ginger and Sporty changed the face of British music, and converted the world to girl power.
It’s been six years since the girls split up and they’ve had varying success. Regardless of the lack of solo achievements, none of them will be short of a few dollars so it seems this is purely to say thanks to the fans. This can only add to the Beckhams attempt to take over the world, as while David will be playing in the US, Victoria will be wowing fans around the world with her terrible attempts at singing.
In conjunction with the tour, EMI is expected to release a Spice Girls greatest hits album in November. This is sure to be a massive seller, to add to the 55 million albums they’ve already sold worldwide.
So are you excited about this latest comeback tour for a British pop group? Or are you sitting there thinking “Meh, whatever”? Let me know your thoughts on the girls, and what if any were your favourite songs of theirs. Are you going to try and get tickets? As always, I love hearing your opinions.

I am SO bummed that they aren’t coming to Chicago. Hopefully it will be added later. In college, my friends and I dressed up like them for Halloween.

I won’t go to the concerts but I will admit to having two songs on my iPod. My girls (ages 3 and 5) LOVE their early songs.
