Shane Warne Quits Test Cricket…Hoorah!
Shane Warne, the scourge of the England Cricket team for 15 years now has announced his retirement from Test Cricket. And as soon as it was made public, the whole of the barmy army and every casual fan put their hands up in the air and cheered! There’s no doubting he’s a great cricketer but that’s the problem, he’s done so much damage to the English batting order over the years that his retirement can only mean the chances of an England win over Australia increasing exponentially.

Warne started his test career in 1992 against India and within a year had bowled what has since been described as “The ball of the century” to get Mike Gatting out with his first delivery in an Ashes test in England. One of Australia’s best known sportsman and best loved cricketers will be bowing out at the end of the current Ashes series, already won in impressive style by Australia. The man has had an incredible effect on cricket as a whole, bringing spin bowling back as an art form, showing speed isn’t always nessacry when a skillful flick of the wrist would bamboozle a batsman a great deal more. He’s also had a love/hate relationship with the British public, us loving his talents, but hating the fact he always seemed to deliver (in every sense) against our boys.
So it’s with mixed feelings that I report the end of Warne’s career, I’ll miss the blonde haired Aussie and his repartee with the English cricket fans but oh god, come on England, now’s the time to show your mettle. Roll on next year’s Ashes in England!
