Prince Harry Going To Iraq
It looks as though Prince Harry, member of the British royal family and 3rd in line to the throne is going to Iraq to fight. The Ministry of Defence confirmed today that Prince Harry and his unit, A Squadron The Blues and Royals, part of the Household Cavalry Regiment, would be serving in Iraq from May or June.
Over the past few days there has been intense speculation as to whether his unit would be one of those chosen to take over from already serving regiments in the gulf, and of course whether even if they did, Harry would be allowed to join them or kept back in this country as a matter of national security. It was claimed that Prince Harry had threatened to resign his commission if he was not deployed with his men.
The last member of the Royal Family to serve in a war zone was Prince Andrew, who was sent to the Falklands in 1982 as a Royal Navy helicopter pilot. Sources within his regiment report that Harry was “Over the moon” to be given permission to join the fight and serve alongside his fellow soldiers.

As a troop leader, Prince Harry will lead 12 men in four Scimitar armoured reconnaissance vehicles. The MoD and Clarence House wrote to all media organisations today requesting them not to speculate about where Harry would serve. There remain serious concerns that media interest in the Prince could make him more vulnerable to attack.
I for one, think he should be going, as he’s done all the courses nessacary and what is the point of The Royal Family members continuing the tradition of becoming forces officers, if they are never going to do the job they are trained for. I really hope Harry doesn’t get injured or killed out there, but no more or less than I wish that for all the British and worldwide troops serving over in what is rapidly turning into a hellhole with no escape.
