Paul Vs Heather Round 1
The big weekend story is Paul McCartney and Heather Mills’ divorce proceedings…still. This is one of those stories that will roll on and on, even after the possible court case and conclusion of the marriage. Being billed as the showbiz divorce of the century, this is only Round one in what is likely to be a very protracted and bitter battle between the two.
So Paul was married to Linda, yes that nice lady who played keyboards in Wings, and later produced a range of vegetarian meals. Then she tragically died and Paul met, dated and eventually married Heather Mills, a one-time model, who lost her leg after being hit by a police motorcycle and now does charity work. They got married in 2002 and had a daughter in 2003. Fast forward 3 years and in May of this year they announced their separation citing life in the public eye making a normal relationship impossible.
And then it turned nasty. It’s been claimed over the last few weeks that both parties were the cause of the break up. According to reports, Heather claims Paul was violent, took drugs and drank heavily. Paul has refuted those accusations and hit back (metaphorically), claiming in this weekend’s News Of The World that she was the violent one, smashing things during arguments, hurling abuse and ranting at him. Whatever the truth, it’s very likely to go to court where the former Beatle will have his personal life debated over and delved into heavily by the media.
Marriages, and not least celebrity ones, seem to be getting shorter and shorter in today’s fast food, ready meals, pre packaged, quickie divorce society.
What happened to the concept of happily ever after?
