Music And Lyrics Preview
This is the new film starring Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. Music And Lyrics is the story of Alex Fletcher (Grant), one time big popstar who gets signed up for a show called ‘Battle of the 80s Has-Beens’. With less than a week to come up with a hit song, he enlists his cleaner Sophie (Barrymore) to help him after she exhibits some lyrical skills. Obviously, no Hugh Grant film is complete without a romance, and these two get it on and end up having a working/fun relationship.
With supporting roles played by Brad Garrett from ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ and Kristen Johnston from ‘3rd Rock From The Sun’, this looks like a strong film. While the faux retro music footage fills me with dread, it has the desired effect and just reminds me of Duran Duran. Hugh is his normal cheesy self, but that’s why he love him so and he doesn’t ever disappoint fans of his rom-com performances. And with yesterday being Valentine’s Day (obviously instrumental in it’s release timing), it seems a good time to get all cosy in the cinema and watch it. It’s out in cinemas around the U.S. now.
