‘London To Brighton’ Film Preview

by Dave Parrack

A new British film opened in the UK last Friday December 1st. ‘London To Brighton’ is an urban thriller from acclaimed new British writer & director Paul Andrew Williams. Set in the twin towns of London and Brighton (a modern seaside resort an hour away from the capital), it’s the story of a young prostitute and an underage girl she’s trying to protect. Chased by her pimp, the film follows 24 hours in their lives while they try to get away from a premature death. Watch the trailer below…

It looks amazing and has been universally receiving praise from critics. Some of the plaudits it’s had so far are “British cinema at it’s best, “A dazzling debut, “Get Carter for the 21st century. It’s been nominated for 3 British independent film awards as well as already winning a plethora of awards such as best UK feature at Raindance 2006. The homeless charity magazine Big Issue have even called it the “Best British film of the century. I have yet to see a bad review or word against it and these people know what they are talking about.

The cast are unknowns and the budget isn’t huge but the plot seems inventive and exhilarating. It’s not a blockbuster, or a family feel good hit, and it’s certainly not another animated feature, which seem to be being released every month these days. What it is though is a hard hitting gritty thriller set in the real world and tackling issues and I applaud it for that. Whether it’s very British setting and storyline will translate well to other countries has yet to be seen but this is a film to look out for.

[...] London To Brighton Train Journey December 8th, 2006 by DaveP I recently wrote and posted an article about the new film ‘London To Brighton’. During research for this (basically while I was trying to find the film trailer on You Tube), I also came across this piece of footage. It’s a speeded up time lapse video of the train ride to London To Brighton and I enjoyed watching it so I thought I’d share. It’s a journey which would normally take about an hour condensed down into about 2 minutes. What’s it got to do with Pop Culture? Well, ermm, not much but it’s an interesting aside so ah, just enjoy it… [...]

I’ve got an Amazon gift certificate burning holes in my pocket,
and I want to get the most bang for my buck.

Enter the Secret Amazon Web Pages:

This is where you’re going to find the “latest sales, rebates, and limited-time offers” from
Amazon, and you can score some pretty deep discounts if you’re a savvy shopper.

Next, there’s the special Sale link. This is open every Friday, and ONLY on Fridays.

You can find the same good discounts here as you would in hidden Deals, although some
Fridays you can really get lucky and make off like an Amazon bandit - I’ve seen discounts
there as low as 75% off sticker price.
