Lily Allen - Alfie

This is the new single by UK pop sensation Lily Allen called simply ‘Alfie’. Lily herself will tell you she’s hip, cool and a rebel but I actually think this is a good “Pop” song personally. Ok, the references to weed and stuff may be going against that but we’ll let her off. The tune has also got a great deal in common with Sandie Shaw’s ‘Puppet On A String’ which you can’t get more pop than. Great song and excellent video too, with Lily dressed in her normal mixture of chav wear but erring on the side of being cool… just. I like the way Lily looks all innocent and sweet, like a sixties housewife too, she’s anything but. Overall, it’s a bit of a departure from her normal stuff and works very well because of this. Recommended.
