It’s hard to believe the Paris Hilton obsession is global, but then western culture has always loved a train wreck … or a ship wreck, or whatever.
Thanks again, as always, for the great links. They are fun to read and also good for post ideas of my own!

And here I thought that it was “E Acky Thomp!”
Yes…that is an obscure reference. I know.

Elisa, I’m with you on this but I thought it was plain old “Ecky Thump” meaning “E by gum”.
Does it make you wonder Dave, how when you blog that unemployment is at 1979 levels people only care whether Hilton is in jail or whether the White Stripe have spelt their album name wrong?
There’s nowt as queer as folk…

Elisa and Ian, you’re both kinda right, Jack White got the name from Ecky Thump, as his wife is English and says it. He changed it to Icky Thump so Americans could understand it better.
Ian, That’s very true, the government certainly aren’t mentioning that unemployment is on the increase so I thought I’d better do it… Paris is a silly cow though
