Hot Fuzz Film Preview
This is the new film by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright, best known for the excellent ‘Shaun Of The Dead’. Coming out last Wednesday (Valentines Day) in the UK, March 15th in Australia and April 20th in America, it’s another comedy very much in the same mould as SOTD. The pairing of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost again get together as a brilliant double act, playing off each other and delivering some classic lines. The cast also includes former Bond Timothy Dalton, the brilliant Jim Broadbent and Billy Whitelaw.
Hot Fuzz follows the story of Nicholas Angel (Pegg), a London police officer with such a great arrest success record he makes the rest of the force look bad. So his superiors ship him out to the sleepy suburb of Sandford, virtually crime free. He’s partnered with Danny Butterman (Frost), who longs for some action, gun fights and big time crimes happening in his vicinity. As the two form a friendship, so some weird occurences start to happen, culminating in some grisly ‘accidents’/murders. Will Butterman get his wish and help Angel solve some big crime spree?
It’s a great film, carrying on, if not in storyline then comedic and visual style, of the aforementioned Shaun. It’s uniquely British but in the main, the humour should apeal worldwide and make everyone laugh. It’s more action orientated rather than vocal but this fits the subject matter perfectly. While not everyone will appreciate it, any fans of Shaun should definitely check it out.
