Heroes Finally Hits The UK
It was a long time coming but finally, the biggest show on US TV has finally hit the UK airwaves. Heroes debuted on the Sci-Fi channel on Sky and Cable TV on Monday. Even though the Americans are up to episode 16 already, us Brits have had to wait until now to see what’s been touted as “the next Lost”.
For those few who don’t know anything about the show, this hit drama follows ordinary people with extraordinary powers. During the series, characters from all walks of life discover that they have individual super powers, such as teleportation, time travel and flight. Over time, these people become aware that they are not alone, and must unite to save the world. That’s it in a nutshell but obviously the plot twists and turns and is even more convaluted than Lost if that’s possible.

The show already has a stellar cast including Ali Larter and Hayden Panittiere, which has now been swelled by Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who) and George Takei (Star Trek). The show has already been mapped out for at least five years so there are sure to be a lot more surprises and plot diversions along the way.
It’s a great show and I recommend anyone to watch it, especially Lost or Sci-Fi fans. The only problem I have with these massive sprawling years long shows is they take over my life! Please stop producing them as I can’t keep up with any more. We already have Lost, 24 and Heroes and Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis… Enough already.
After debuting on the Sci-Fi channel, a terrestrial airing of Heroes series one has been secured by BBC2 later in the year although the precise schedule has yet to be confirmed. In America, the show gets 15 million viewers a week, and although that will never be repeated over here, Monday night’s premiere gave the Sci-Fi channel it’s highest ever audience with 622,766 adults and a 4.3% share.

The only problem now, as U.S.-based Heroes fan, is Fox (the bastards) have put 24 against Heroes. Every Monday at 9 I make the hardest choice of my life. Usually 24 wins because The Husband has a mancrush on The Keif.
