Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Leaked On The Web?
We’re just two weeks away from the release of the Seventh and final Harry Potter book ‘The Deathly Hallows’ and there are rumours circulating that a soft copy of the book is being circulated by email.
Everyone is speculating about the fate of our favourite child wizard and his friends as he faces off against Voldemort, with the balance of wizard and muggles alike potentially in his hands. Well, according to this website, a 659 page pdf file of the full book is circulating India. Click to read more, which potentially contains spoilers…
The following is a direct quote from the blogger who has seen this file and maintains its credibilty as real.
It contains 34 chapters, the last of which is an epilogue. The novel starts with Harry’s return to his aunt’s house in Privet Drive after the death of Professor Dumbledore, only to have a shocking realisation that his cousin Dudley too is a wizard, and that his powers were masked by the professor because of an agreement with Aunt Petunia.
But the charm fades with the professor’s death creating many problems for the pumpkin boy, but is soon solved by Harry with the help of his friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Grainger.
As expected by most fans, these faithful friends joins Harry in his search for the “horcruxes.
I don’t know whether to believe this, or if it’s one massive hoax/urban myth, but it’s interesting none the less. The beginning of the book certainly could be true, but I would wonder why the site would choose not to reveal the rest of the plot and gain a worldwide reputation as the one that got the scoop of the century.
After doing an extra bit of digging, I have found that there are some pretty strong, though unsubstantiated rumours flying about the ending. There are people who claim to have read the book already and know that Harry Potter lives, but that Hermione dies saving Ron from Voldemort. Also apparently Snape kills Hagrid while serving Voldemort. Again, these are rumours, but they seem valid to me.
Ah well, fellow Harry Potter lovers and loathers, we only have a couple of weeks left to find out what happens to Harry at the end of the 7 book series. Whatever the outcome J.K. Rowling chose, I hope it doesn’t disappoint the legion of fans.
What do you think? Could this leak be real, or is it just a clever hoax? How do you think ‘The Deathly Hallows’ will end? Let me know in ye olde comment box down there.

Sounds pretty much like a goofy hoax to me.

even if it we’re true and it ended up in my inbox I wouldn’t read it! There are somethings I’m very particular about and a 100% official hardback harry potter book is one of them! (along with enya, evanescence and linkin park Cd’s)
Besides I’m using these two weeks to read the previous book!

It seems it is a hoax, well there is a pdf but it’s not written by JK Rowling.
Han, I think I’d take a look at it, but I would still buy my hardback edition come release day. Have you pre-ordered?

Definitely not the real copy, this is fairly well documented already. This is simply a very long fan fic, copied and posted as the real thing.
It’s actually called “The Seventh Horcrux” and is written by a fan who calls herself Melindaleo.

i’ve read the pdf and, whether its written by jkr or this melindaleo character - its a bloody good read!
dudley is indeed a wizard and the dursleys finally accept the reality of the wizarding world when he is approached by interim minister dolores umbridge to be the ministry’s new poster boy.
several major characters die in the story, however harry successfully defeats voldemort and all four main characters live to see a happy ending
the final paragraphs however, describe the mysterious death of the dursleys and a missing dudley, leading the reader to suspect that the remaining death eaters have regrouped along with dudley and possibly draco malfoy, to continue the work of the dark lord…

just wanted to add - one thing that did alarm me slightly and made me think this is possibly a fake [though i still can't quite believe why anyone would go to the trouble] was the use of bad language by some of the characters - i know teenagers curse but, in a book aimed as much at minors as it is adults i find it strange, swear words such as w****ers and p***ed - in a HP book? or maybe thats how jkr wrote it and the proof readers/editors job is to amend the language and this pdf has been leaked before this process?…

that 659 pages pdf ebook is available here

i think the ebook there is the pdf the article is talking about.

Thanks for all the information guys. I’ll amend the article to include it and end the speculation.
It seems bizarre to me to spend so much time writing a fanfic of the final book. I can understand writing short stories based on the HP series, but not a full length novel!
Ah well, the release date is approaching fast

I read the leaked pdf file..it is definately not the real book..the writer even admits it. But let me tell u this…i truely enjoyed it, i loved the ending (all the 4 main characters live gin, harry, ron & hermione)!!!! I really wish the ending is the same for the real book.
The only thing i didnt like about the pdf file is that it had a bit too much of snogging.
