Harry Potter Is Just Star Wars In Disguise!
Continuing the countdown to the release of the seventh and final Harry Potter book The Deathly Hallows, and tonight is the night. From Midnight you will be able to obtain your copies of the last book in the series, although I suspect like me, most of you will be more likely to be getting your copy in the morning. A lot of stores are opening tonight, or early tomorrow morning especially for the launch, but I’ll be waiting for my postman to deliver my Amazon pre-ordered copy to my door. I’ll be going to bed early tonight so I can get up early and start reading asap. Sad yes, but there’ll be millions of people like me so don’t judge!
Anyway, on to the point of this post, the fact that Harry Potter is in essence just a copy of Star Wars, at least in plot, if not character and setting. Don’t believe me? Then take a look at this…

You see?!? It’s actually scary how similar the two storylines are, at least in spirit. The thing is, isn’t this the same with every medium these days? There’ll always be someone who got there before you. Look at any video game RPG and you’ll see similarity in every other adventure game released before it. But let’s not take anything away from JK Rowling and what she’s achieved with the whole Harry Potter saga, she’s got millions of children reading, and kept adults hooked for 10 years along with it, quite an achievement.
I won’t be posting again until Monday, and that will probably be a quick on and off, maybe an update of where I’m up to in the book, and I won’t be reading any of your comments until I’ve finished, because frankly I don’t trust you lot.
Happy reading!

[...] I really want to talk about today is an interesting post I read at Pop Buzz UK. In this post, Harry Potter is compared to Star Wars, and I not only agree, but I’ll venture [...]

I think that if we look at the plots at a high level, yes they are similar, but it’s because they are both based in basic mythology as well as many other stories. Pretty much every story that can be told already has.

Most stories follow an evil protagonist and a hero type of plot, but the similarities between HP and Star Wars are quite striking in places!
