Harry Potter Encyclopedia On The Cards | JK Rowling Plans 8th Book
I would guess that the vast amount of you Harry Potter fans out there have now finished reading the book, and are currently either reading it for the 2nd time through, or analyzing parts of it for a deeper meaning. It feels like an end of an era doesn’t it? I’m kind of sad about the 7 book series having come to an end with The Deathly Hallows, but all may not be lost.
As I predicted a while ago, JK Rowling will most likely revisit Harry Potter’s universe for more stories in the future, she’d be mad not to. And although it won’t be a fictional story, she’s already hinted that she may write a Harry Potter encyclopedia. This will be a good opportunity for her to let the faithful readers in on some of the undisclosed secrets of Hogwarts and what happened to certain characters in the aftermath of the battle with Voldemort in The Deathly Hallows.

Apparently she has copious amounts of notes and back stories, following in the tradition of JRR Tolkien who had a whole universe plotted out in unpublished notes. These could easily be used to create an all encompassing encyclopedia which pretty much every Harry Potter fan would want to buy and read, thus adding to her already vast wealth.
JK Rowling has been very clever about her ownership of Harry Potter, maintaining all the rights to any written works, including companion books, such as guides and encyclopedias. She also only signed a deal for the books to be turned in to movies, if they were her work, and hers alone. This means that we aren’t going to suddenly see a Hollywood penned Harry Potter strutting his stuff on in a blockbuster.
The encyclopedia is a good start and I hope JK Rowling gets to work on it as soon as she’s had a well earned rest and a holiday. But I’m still hopeful of further fictional stories in the series, although as Harry’s story has been told in it’s entirety would assume it’d be someone else as the main character now. Maybe Teddy Lupin? He’s a fellow orphan after all! Watch this space.

I saw something in print sometime ago that was more like a rumour that Ms. Rowling had copyrighted the name for an eighth Harry Potter book.
Now I don’t believe for a second that that the piece of Voldemort’s soul actually was blasted away from Harry in the final fight (evil is so tenacious) and I don’t understand why the Resurrection Stone was left in the forest unsecured and unprotected, but hey, what an “in” for the next book, with Harry as an adult. That is, once Ms. Rowland gets a good rest before she starts plugging away.

I hadn’t even thought about the Resurrection Stone having any significance until now but yeah great point.
That could definitely be used as an ‘in’ for a new adventure. JK even drew attention to the fact it was still there.
The thing is, she’s worth £500,000,000 or $1 billion so why would she be bothered about writing more? I know I wouldn’t
