Dr Who News Round Up | David Tennant Reveals Secrets - Kylie Minogue Keen To Return

by

The Dr Who world moves at quite a fast pace, and I’m not even talking about when the good doctor is in his tardis travelling through time and space. So here for your pleasure is another round up of the latest Dr Who news!

David Tennant has revealed the secret of the cult show’s massive success, telling The Daily Record:

“The Doctor is unlike any other long-established character, in that you can bring your own ideas and personality to the part. In a way, you have to reset the Doctor to zero every week.”

That’s true, and as the Doctor changes, it becomes a new show each time, keeping it fresh for viewers and actors alike. That’s why I’m hopeful that the show has enough life left in it to keep going for years to come.

Talking to The Stage, Tennant also singled out Russell T Davies, the main man behind the relaunch of the show, saying:

“The standard of the writing and of the stories is extremely high. I might tweak the odd line here or there, but I’d never dream of pointing out to the writers, in that hackneyed phrase, that my character wouldn’t say this or do that. Russell [T Davies] is the best, so why play around with the best?”

High praise indeed, and again he’s correct. The Russell T Davies scripts are always of the highest quality, and the direction he’s taken the show in over the last few years has never failed to impress.

Last, but not least, Kylie Minogue, who will star in the upcoming Christmas special of the show, has expressed an interest at making a return performance at some time in the future. She told WENN:

“It’s not up to me but I know there has been talk that my character could be reintroduced at a later date. We’ll have to wait and see.”

I think we’ll wait to see how she does in the Christmas special before judging whether that’s a good idea or now, which is probably exactly what Russell T Davies and the crew are doing. She’s a great singer, but if I remember rightly her acting could best be described as “a bit wooden”.
