David Tennant Staying As Doctor Who For Whole Of Series 4 | Russell T Davies Confirms The Good News
All of us Doctor Who fans who have been subjected to months of tabloid newspaper speculation over the fate of current Doctor David Tennant need not worry any more.
Russell T Davies, the new series creator and head writer has confirmed that Tennant will be present for the whole of the upcoming series, and not leaving after 4 episodes as has been continually rumoured.
Davies told Doctor Who magazine:-
“He’s doing the whole series,”
“It was never even discussed that he might leave after six episodes. That’s completely invented by the papers.”
“None of us knows exactly what will happen after series four, but there’s already talk of a 2008 Christmas Special.”
This is incredibly good news for all fans of the cult BBC show, as Tennant has now become THE Doctor in so many fans eyes.
I was never a fan of the original show, and while I did enjoy the first series of the new incarnation with Christopher Eccleston playing the Doctor, it wasn’t until Tennant took over that the show became the must see drama it now is.
In other Dr Who news, legendary actress Joan Collins has reportedly signed up to play a time travelling villain in the fourth series.
The News Of The World claims that 74 year old Collins will appear as the Doctors arch enemy The Rani, a Gallifreyan scientist who appeared in the classic series.
The newspaper reports an insider on the show as saying:-
“The Doctor Who team are delighted they’ve managed to sign Joan. It’s a real coup. [She's] perfect for the role… like Alexis Colby with a sonic screwdriver.”
This would be quite a coup for the show, who seem to specialise in persuading classic British actors to take part in a series which you wouldn’t expect to see them in.

In last year’s two part finale, Sir Derek Jacobi appeared as Professor Yana, who by the end of the episode is revealed to actually be the Doctor’s arch-nemesis, the Master.
I can’t wait for the new series now, and before that the Christmas special starring none other than Kylie Minogue!
Until then I’ll be reading Watching Dr Who which has all the latest updates, news, and episode reviews on the show. Tell the lovely Elisa I sent you!

You know what I don’t like about him? I keep thinking of the character he played in Harry Potter whenever I see him.

That’s a good point Paul. Barty Crouch was his name. He IS Dr Who now though, I couldn’t imagine anyone else playing him :S
