David Beckham New Injury Scare? | England & LA Galaxy Fear Strained Knee Ligaments
David Beckham has got yet another injury. He limped out of the SuperLiga trophy final game against Pachuca last night with a suspected knee injury.
Becks could be out for 6 weeks with this new injury, the latest in a long line of recent injury woes.
The LA Galaxy club doctors fear it is strained knee ligaments, an injury which you can’t rush back in to action from. He is set to undergo a scan tomorrow morning which will reveal the full extent of the damage.
This not only means he’ll miss some MLS games for new club LA Galaxy, but also means he’s a big doubt for England’s crucial Euro 2008 qualifiers with Israel and Russia.
Beckham said:-
“At the moment we‘re calling it a ligament strain but in the morning I’m going for a scan to see exactly what it is and how long I’m going to be out.”
“But at the moment, it doesn’t feel great.
“This is a injury that takes four to six weeks but who knows - if the scan is not so bad maybe I‘ve got a chance to play. We’ll know more tomorrow.
The English national team face Israel on September 8 and Russia clash just four days after that. Whether David Beckham will be able to play any part in either game is now in serious doubt.
This latest injury was sustained when Becks faced a 31st-minute challenge with Pachuca’s Fernando Salazar for the ball. He has already missed 8 of the 12 games he was eligible to play for LA Galaxy.
The final went to extra time, where Pachuca eventually won 4-3 on penalties.
