Big Brother 8 2007 Begins!

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Big Brother 8 Logo

Big Brother is back, and it’s bigger and supposedly better than ever. The huge twist this year, which was gradually revealed as the housemates entered the house was the lack of any males. Yes, that’s right, the first 11 HMs this year are all female, and what a lbunch of strange bods they are. For all you girls out there wanting a nice bit of totty to watch through the summer, don’t despair, there will be at least 1 guy entering the house on Friday. I suspect more will be introduced throughout the series too, with maybe mass evictions of the girls to even out the numbers.

They’re All Dead Dave by JM

I was standing in the lounge and frowning at the television when I asked my husband if he remembered that show. That British one… No, not Little Britain… The one with… What for? I’m doing a guest post on Dave’s blog.

That’s when my husband looked at me strangely and asked me why didn’t I do a post about Red Dwarf? Pure genius and so utterly obvious I had to smack my forehead.

Why was it genius and utterly obvious?

Because I hear Red Dwarf.

Red Dwarf is one piece of British genius that makes my heart beat a little faster. (Actually, that would be the dreadlocked Dave Lister, but we won’t tell my husband that.)

The Appeal Of British Cop Shows?

British Cop Shows by Gillian

http://gillpolack.livejournal.com
www.foodpast.com

Australia isn’t quite as addicted to British cop shows as Britain is to Aussie soapies. Not quite. It comes close when I visit my family in Melbourne, though. It doesn’t matter that I’ve traveled hundreds of miles to visit, if Inspector Lynley is on, I have to sit quietly and wait it out.

Not that my family likes Inspector Lynley. “He’s too perfect,” my mother says, once a week. She prefers her cops to be more… interesting. Like John Thaw.

Hot Fuzz Review by Winnie McCarthy

www.watchingtheview.com/
www.about-chicagoil.com/

Plot Summary

Hot Fuzz stars Simon Pegg as Nicholas Angel, a highly effective police officer in London who is sent away to the small rural village of Sandford because his excellent arrest rate is making the rest of the police officers look bad. Angel is partnered with PC Danny Butterman, played by Nick Frost, the son of the village Inspector. Obsessed with American police movies, like Bad Boys 2, PC Butterman is excited to work with Angel who has been involved in exciting police work.

After being sent on a series of silly assignments, like the one shown in this YouTube video clip below, things start to get exciting in the village. What appears to be an angelic village without any major crime turns out to be something more sinister as a series of deaths appear to be more than just accidents.

Mitchell And Webb Clips

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

To celebrate Mitchell and Webb making, and releasing their first film, called ‘Magicians’, I thought I’d look back to last year, and their brilliant first series of ‘That Mitchell and Webb look’.

David Mitchell and Robert Webb are British comedians, who started on Play UK, before transferring their sketch show to BBC radio 4. As happened with ‘Little Britain’, the BBC know when they’re on to a good thing, and it wasn’t long before a full BBC2 show was commissioned, and aired at the end of last year. A second series is being made, and is due to air at the end of this year. They are also the geniuses behind ‘Peep Show’, that oh so strange Channel 4 sitcom where the cameras often shoot from the characters point of view, and we get to hear what they are thinking rather than saying.

Music Single Review: The Cribs - Men’s needs

Monday, May 14th, 2007

The Cribs are back with a new single, the first from forthcoming album ‘Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever’. This first single called ‘Men’s Needs’ carries on from where ‘Mirror Kissers’, and ‘Martell’ left off, with a very similar sound from the Leeds based band.

The video from YouTube features some nudity, except actually it doesn’t as it’s all been blacked out. It does contain a bit of comedy blood and guts though so watch it now…

The first thing I noticed from the video was the fact the guys haven’t smartened up at all, with their grungy, almost dirty look carrying on in to this third album. They’ve never been ones to worry about looks, with meaning and content much more important. The video still looks cheap, even with the amateur special effects, but I enjoyed watching it, and it gave me a few laughs. It’s a bizarre but strangely fitting video for this song, I just which it hadn’t been censored, as the girl is a great gothy almost emo looking girl who isn’t bad looking.
