Paul McCartney Displays Pulling Power | Renee Zellweger, Elle Macpherson & Natalie Imbruglia

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

Paul McCartney At AwardsPaul McCartney has seemingly gone all out to find the next Mrs McCartney, being seen with three gorgeous ladies in the past week. The main attention has been on Renee Zellweger, who he has so far had 3 dinner dates with.

But he has also been seen chatting and cosying up to supermodel Elle Macpherson and Australian pop singer Natalie Imbruglia.

This sudden burst of Macca going all out for some female attention kicked off when he was spotted with former model Christie Brinkley at a music gig in New York last month.

Then 65 year old McCartney had a romantic candlelit dinner with Bridget Jones herself, Renee Zellweger. This came days after they chatted intimately at a Tom Petty gig.

The former Beatles singer took 38 year old Zellweger to the American Hotel restaurant in the Hamptons, New York, where they both have houses.

Big Brother 8 Video Compilation | The Best Bits Of The Series In 9 Minutes

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

Big Brother 8 has come to an end, and I’ll miss it, even though it was the least watched series of Big Brother ever.

These videos are great as they show the best bits of the whole Big Brother 8 series in under 9 minutes. I sat there for 3 months watching hour after hour of footage, and here it all is broken down in to a short compilation of clips.

Big Brother 8 Ziggy Video | In His Former Life As Boy Band Member of ‘Northern Line’

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

I was going to save this until Ziggy was actually evicted from the Big Brother house, but he’s hanging on in there so well that I think the time is well overdue. Before Big Brother 8, Ziggy was already semi famous, being a member of a boy band called ‘Northern Line’ for a few years. I say semi famous because these lads were not exactly Take That, and didn’t actually do very well.

They did have one song which did ok though called ‘Love On The Northern Line’ and this is the video for it.

It’s pony (pony and trap = crap) isn’t it? I was going to try and tell you which one Ziggy was in the video by saying “the gay looking one with the black shirt half open showing his navel”, but that applies to all of them.

X Factor 4 2007 Kicks Off New Series With A Bang | Simon Cowell Asks Louis Walsh Back To Judge

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

The X Factor LogoUnfortunately the bang wasn’t from a gun as Simon Cowell got shot by yet another disgruntled auditioning contestant. But it was a great first show to kick off the new series of The X Factor with.

As is the tried and tested format with these talent shows, the first few weeks are the funniest and often best, as we get to see a mixture of the best and worst of the first round of auditions. And this first show followed the plot completely.

First there was a new presenter in Dermot O’Leary to get used to, and he did a good job. It must be weird for him doing something on TV other than Big Brother, as he’s been the main man on ‘Big Brother’s Little Brother’ from the start. Although I would still prefer Ant & Dec to be the main presenters like they were for the original Pop Idol shows, Dermot is a step up from the awful Kate Thornton, who was inextricably given the role last year.

British Jukebox - 17/08/07 | The Enemy, The Specials, Sugababes, The Animals, Gerry & The Pacemakers

Friday, August 17th, 2007

The British Jukebox went on a bit of a hiatus for a month, but it’s now back, and much improved from the old version. One reason I gave it a break was because I’m writing a new blog specifically about the British Music Scene over at Brit Music Scene. The other reason/excuse was because I wanted to find a better source for songs, and as you can see below, I managed that beautifully.

So, without further ado, for all those fans of British Music, take a listen to this week’s selection, which ranges in age from the 60s to present day and all in between. This week we have songs from The Specials, Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Animals, Sugababes, and The Enemy. Enjoy…

The Top 100 Most Annoying Pop Moments… We Hate To Love… Allegedly

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

BBC3 LogoI watched this television programme last night late on BBC3, which was a repeat from last Saturday. The first of a 2 part show, it’s a run-down of the 100 ‘Most Annoying Pop Moments… We hate To Love’, or at least someone’s idea of them. This first show gave the countdown from 100 to 50, with the usual discussion of each moment and the same old talking heads giving their opinion son them.

I enjoyed the show, but I have a couple of major problems with it, and this tired old format in general. First of all, some of the moments they chose were ludicrous, as in not annoying at all. The Zimmers doing a version of The Who’s ‘My Generation’ was listed, even though I found that great rather than annoying. Also, stuff like the Spice Girls getting back together, which was ridiculed and rounded on by the various celebrities and journos commenting. How is that annoying? It seemed like a lot of the moments were only included so as to be completely up to date, even though the moments themselves have fostered no annoyance from anyone.

Big Brother 2007 BB8 Friday Night Project Spoof Video

Monday, August 6th, 2007

Big Brother 2007 continues to shock, delight, and anger in equal measure. If it’s not Charley’s vicious outbursts, it’s Tracey’s raving sayings and Ziggy’s bed hopping antics.

The Friday night project has been ridiculing the housemates antics every week since the start and this is one of my favourites so far. We present to you ‘Big Brother 8 - The Musical’…

The guest presenter of The Friday night project the week this was shown was Beth Ditto from The Gossip, and she played Ziggy and Tracey very well.

Monty Python & The Holy Grail Lego Version

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

I love everything about Monty Python, from the TV series, to the films, and even beyond that with Terry Gilliam’s films, Michael Palin’s travel programmes and everything else they’ve done since. So when I find some new bit of comedy gold related to the Python empire, I like to share it with my readers on Pop Buzz UK.

This version of Monty Python’s ‘The Holy Grail’ is scarily well done, with the added animation on the Lego mouths very well done. Obviously it’s not as good as the original, but seeing it done in Lego adds a whole new level of fun to the whole scene.

Ever since the Lego Star Wars games came along, there seems to be a craze for turning everything in to a Lego version, and I for one, think they work extremely well, being both funny and clever at the same time. I’ll try and dig out some more classic British pop culture moments recreated in Lego, and post them up for you all.
