Tuesday, October 24th, 2006For the second week in a row My Chemical Romance are top of the British charts with the brilliant Welcome To The Black Parade. I adore this song, it’s a real grower but at the same time grabs you from the first listen. It owes alot to Green Day’s Wake Me Up When September Ends in my opinion. But that’s no bad thing.
The UK charts have unfortunately, in recent years, been chock full of cheesy Pop music, with Indie and alternative music taking a back seat. I know it’s still the Pop (for popularity) charts but the plethora of boy and girl bands, manufactured songs and dance routines of the last few years has decimated the relevance of this institution. This seems to be changing with most of the top 10 artists this week having more of a real music flavour than usual. Indie is the new Pop! (more…)
