Casino Royale World Premiere

by Dave Parrack

The new Bond film Casino Royale had it’s world premiere tonight, to a star studded celebrity audience. We’re not talking about Big Brother wannabes with their norks on display either. The Queen and Prince Philip were in attendance to give Bond’s tagline “On her majesty’s secret service some credence.

Daniel Craig

The star of the show tonight in London’s Leicester Square, and the film, was Daniel Craig. The suave and sophisticated British actor and new Bond put on a dazzling display to show why he was picked to be the new face of the world’s favourite spy. This is his first Bond film, and is based on the first ever Bond novel of the same name, written by Ian Fleming and published in 1953.

Daniel spent ages out with the crowd, doing a “Tom Cruise as is expected these days. By that I don’t mean, joining a cult, having relationships with beautiful women and being in great films, and some crap ones. Craig may end up doing all those things, but on this occasion I mean spending time communicating with the hoards of filmgoers, and giving his time to loyal Fans camped outside.

Casino Royale

The film is garnering rave reviews from critics and fans alike, and is a very fitting introduction for Daniel Craig to the role. With a massive 93% average rating on Rotten Tomatoes currently, it seems everyone loves the new look Bond. The series seems to have gone back to its roots with a tougher sexier and more raw Spy film, very true to its novel roots. And it certainly seems to be a lot better than the first attempt at capturing the essence of the book. In 1967, a spoof was made, not classed as a real Bond film in the series, starring David Niven, Peter Sellers and Ursula Andress. Although some love the quirky humour and nostalgic look at the spy genre, I’m thinking the 2006 version is superior.

Casino Royale is on general release in the UK on Thursday 16th November, followed by the rest of the world on Friday 17th. Go and see it and tell me what you think. Was Craig a good choice as Bond? Does he live up to the high plateau Pierce Brosnan left the series in? Comments welcomed…

I did a little post on http://www.shoeboxers.com about Rachel Stevens and her got Christian Louboutin shoes at the Premier. Funny how one event can cross categories. I’m sure you could care less…

  3. KeithR Says:

Daniel Craig was awesome in Layer Cake. After seeing him in that role, I was pretty sure that the leap to Bond was doable for him. I can’t wait to see this new Bond flick!

  4. DaveP Says:

The best James Bond is without a doubt Sean Connery. He had enough charisma to pull it off but also made Bond a rugged manly spy that us guys all aspire to be.

Rachel Stevens is hot so of course I care less ;)

Have yet to see Layer Cake but Daniel Craig IS an excellent actor. Not my first choice for Bond but this performance shows “What do I know?” Lol.
Am hoping to go and see Casino Royale at the weekend :)

  5. KeithR Says:
