Billie Piper To Return To Doctor Who? | Will She Reprise Role As Rose Alongside David Tennant?
Is Billie Piper about to return to the scene of her greatest triumph and reprise her role as Rose Tyler in cult BBC drama Doctor Who?
Reports are suggesting the actress has been offered £20,000 to make a comeback in a three-episode story arc at the end of the next series.
An insider at the BBC said “We are all very excited that Billie is on course to come back. We’re very close to getting her to sign.”
Piper made her name as a serious actor on the show firstly alongside Christopher Eccleston and then the ubiquitous David Tennant. Their on screen chemistry was astoundingly good and she certainly helped him settle in to the role as the good Doctor.
She left at the end of season 2 where in an episode entitled Doomsday she was confined to a parallel universe along with her mum, deceased dad and boyfriend Mickey. The rift in space caused by the actions of the Daleks meant she was never able to return to the earth she knew or that the Doctor resided on.
I’d love to see this happen, but why would Billie Piper even consider it? She’s moved on and has been busy in other roles so why go back, even if it is to the scene of your greatest critical success so far? It’s not even like £20,000 is a great deal of money in acting terms.
If this does happen I can see it signalling the end of David Tennant’s time as Doctor Who. What better way for him to go out than having a reunion with Rose Tyler? Maybe he dies trying to bring her back to his own universe?

I haven’t even started the season with the companion after Rose yet, but I hear she’s good. Billie Piper was excellent as Rose, I thought.
