Big Brother 8’s Fake Week | Australian Housemate & Fake Eviction

by

Big Brother 8 LogoLast Friday saw the beginning of UK Big Brother 8’s fake week. Straight after Laura’s eviction from the house and subsequent interview, we were told there was a big surprise, for both the housemates and us viewers. Cue the house, and a TV lights up showing a Diary Room chair in all it’s glory, but not the British one. Instead, it’s supposedly an Australian HM who gets told she’s off to the UK Big Brother house!

I was taken in, and so were the housemates, who all sat there 100% fooled. For when we cut back to Davina, she walked through the gallery area to reveal the Aussie HM sitting in a studio… she’s actually an actress from Swindon. BB8 PaulineExcellent, what a plot twist.

So she entered the house on Sunday and has nstructions to act as if she’s Australian housemate Pauline for a whole week. In the main the British HMs have fallen for the ruse, but clever yet cynical old Carole saw straight through it within minutes of her entering the house.

And fake week is due to get even better. The housemates nominated on Monday, and Charley and Nicky are up for eviction this Friday. The problem, or rather the absolutely excellent plan by Big Brother, is that the whole eviction is a fraud. The public will vote over the next 2 days as normal, and the person will be thrown out of the house. She will then be interviewed by Davina as normal, the difference being the other HMs will be sat watching the whole thing. Then at the end, the evicted housemate will be chucked straight back in to the house, and have to deal with the consequences of potentially slagging other people off. Brilliant.

Now all we have to do is hope and pray the public see sense and evict Charley as that would make for the best vewing come Friday night. I wish Chanelle and Ziggy had been up too, as it would have been interesting to hear what they actually thought of each other.

So, what do you think of this whole fake week idea? Is it genius and may bring this Big Brother up to the level of 2 and 3? Or is it just a cruel twist to the game, designed to make good TV with arguments and the tone of the house being evil? Let me know what you think.
