Becoming Jane Film Preview And Trailer
Becoming Jane is the new period costume drama inspired and based on Jane Austen’s life. We have ‘Devil Wears Prada’ star Anne Hathaway playing the young Jane, controversial not because she’s a bad actor but because yet again we have an American actress playing a very English character. The story is based on Austen’s private letters and follows the story of her lovelife, as well as showing her being on the cusp of what was to be a great literary career.
The rest of the cast is superb with James McAvoy from ‘The Last King Of Scotland’, Julie Walters and the irrespressible Maggie Smith being the best of the bunch. McAvoy in particular continues to show his talents as the Irishman Tom Lefroy, Jane’s true love and the real life ‘Darcy’ of the film. The chemistry between the two leads is superb and virtually sizzles on screen.
I think it looks a good film and I definitely recommend going to see it this weekend, but don’t get caught up in the truth of everything you see on screen as according to Austen fans there have been a lot of speculation and misnomers included in the plot. Regardless though, if you like a good classic love story and also a bit of a weepie, then be sure to catch this romantic piece.
