A Slice Of Pop Pie: Are Starbucks Devil Worshippers?
This is my weekly round-up of the best pop culture blog posts from all over the blogosphere. I realised a long time ago that I can’t cover every story that breaks, so instead I bring you the ones that have interested me in this nice little feature I like to call ‘A Slice Of Pop Pie‘…
Berkeley Place wrote an article called The 25 best indie rock albums ever… according to the blogosphere, which does exactly what it says on the tin. I agree with most of the choices, and love the fact the UK’s own ‘Bloc Party’ made it on to the list.
WorldNetDaily featured a story about an Ohio woman who was shocked after reading an anti-God message published on the side of a Starbucks coffee cup. I don’t really see why she was so disgusted that her blood boiled. It’s a great campaign, and it’s just voicing one person’s opinion, so what’s the problem? I read pro-Christian messages all the time, and never get upset, we’re all entitled to believe what we want surely?
Steve Carter put photos of the worst album covers ever created on his site, and they had me laughing so hard, I thought I’d share. I particularly like “Ken - By Request Only” with his excellent moustache, and weird stare in to space. Tell me your favourite!
The British Ministry of Defence plans to open it’s “X-Files” on UFO sightings to the public for the first time. The Guardian newspaper reported that the reports which date back to 1967 will be available to read soon. I’d love to read these, although I’m sure there’ll still be stuff censored out of them.
Neel over at HealthyBPM asks Are fat employees a liability? She discusses it eloquently by countering “But what about the work culture in general? People work day in and day out, without time for their families, without time to read their favorite books or even to have a simple stroll in the park. Life has lost its quality. The excuse: MONEY.” So true, I totally agree.
Last, but definitely not least, Darren Rowse over at ProBlogger has set another of his brilliant writing projects. This one sets the challenge of writing an article on the topic ‘Top 5′, and sees a prize of $1001 going to one lucky blogger. I’m entering, and my article will be posted on here tomorrow. Why not enter yourself!

I believe (and have observed) that Starbucks prints a variety of viewpoints on those cups. I know I’ve seen one from a Christian standpoint. They’re very successful, because they get people talking, which is their point as I underestand it.
Those album covers are so great. I don’t know if I can possibly pick a favorite, but maybe “Jim Post: I Love My Life.” Fantastic!!

A lady in Ohio decided to stop drinking Starbucks coffee … and 20 plus newspapers around the U.S. ran a story about it. Damn that must be good coffee….or an incredibly slow news day. Grass growing was relegated to page 2.

Emma, if the Starbucks cups only put 1 viewpoint, I’d understand it, but as you say, they show a wide variety.
Hamster, it’s why she stopped drinking coffee rather than the fact she did that makes it interesting. Starbucks do make exceedingly good coffee though
