7 Pop Culture Facts About Me…

by

I’ve been tagged for my first ever meme! I had mixed emotions when Kelly from Taxgirl let me know that I was one of her chosen 7 bloggers to take part in this, going from happiness, to annoyance. But now, as I write the post, I realise I’m happy again, and I’m going to enjoy writing my 7 random facts about me. But there’s the thing, I thought it would be better to make it fit Pop Buzz UK a bit, so instead here are 7 pop culture facts about me…

1. My favourite decade would have to be the Sixties. No, I’m not old enough to have lived through it, and that’s what makes it so intriguing I think. The music, fashion, attitudes and freedom completely appeal to me, and I’m jealous of the people who got to live through it.

2.
My favourite band at the moment is Maximo Park. There was a swathe of new British bands who released their first album a couple of years ago inc. Maximo, Bloc Party, Arctic Monkeys, Futureheads. Now they’ve all released their 2nd album, and the only one which beats the debut is Maximo Park’s ‘Our Earthly Pleasures’.

3. My favourite ever video game is Final Fantasy VII… or is it Shenmue? I really can’t decide between the 2 of them, but they are both classics, and I never tire of playing either of them.

4. My favourite games console ever made is the Dreamcast. It was ahead of it’s time, it got me on the internet for the first time ever, Phantasy Star Online, Shenmue, the list goes on. Sadly, no-one bought the damn thing, so it sunk without trace, and killed Sega off as a hardware manufacturer at the same time.

5. I used to be a TV addict… and then I found the internet. Now I tend to have it on in the background with the latest reality show playing on it while I browse the web, and write blog posts you you guys.

6. Even though I’m 30 years old, I keep all of my gig tickets in a clip frame. Yes, it’s sad but I like to keep a memento of every concert I’ve been to, and I’ve seen too many people lose them by trying to keep them in books, folders etc.

7. I’ve been reading War & Peace for about 3 years now, on and off. I find it boring but am determined to finish it and not let myself get beaten. I always get sidetracked by other books which take my fancy, the current tome being Stephen King’s ‘The Stand’.

And so there we go, a bastardised version of the meme sent to me. And now my job is to keep the blog chain letter going by passing it on to 7 other people. Unfortunately, I delayed writing this for a few days, and other people stole some of my choices! Raaargh. But here’s the list I came up with…

Cloudy at Clear As Mud
Emma at Treehouse Jukebox
Jaime at The New Australian (revenge!)
Randi at If You Can’t Say Something Nice…
Chrispian at Nothing To Say
Paul at Digital Monkey Box
Ian at The Expectant Father

Here are the rules:

Each player starts with 7 random facts/habits about themselves. People who are tagged need to then report this on their own blog with their 7 things as well as these rules. They then need to tag 7 others and list their names on their blog. They are also asked to leave a comment for each of the tagged, letting them know they have been tagged and to read the blog.
