30/05/2007 On The British Jukebox This Week…
Carrying on the attempt at educating anyone who thinks British music ended with The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, here is another selection of great music from the UK. It’s all handpicked by me, and whether you think it’s great, OK, or downright unlistenable, just let me know by using ye olde comment box down there!
The Sex Pistols - Anarchy In The UK
Eric Clapton - I Shot The Sheriff
Joss Stone - Super Duper Love
Franz Ferdinand - The Dark Of The Matinee
Tom Jones - It’s Not Unusual
Let me know what you think of the above songs and bands. Have they travelled across the world and made it big in other countries? Have you ever even heard of them? What do you think of British music in general, good or a load of tripe? If any of the songs I’ve featured grabbed you, let me know and I’ll either feature more from that band or write a full feature on them.

As always, it’s fun to listen to a few songs hand-picked by DaveP!
I can’t decide if I like Franz Ferdinand or not. “Take Me Out” was popular around here for a while and at first I didn’t like it at all and then I liked it a lot. It kept getting stuck in my head. When I hear other songs of theirs…I’m just not sure. Maybe if I kept listening to them they’d all grow on me. But does that mean I like their music or that they have weird brain control powers? I’m not sure. Have I rambled on long enough about this?

That’s a good ramble!
Franz Ferdinand are good but in my opinion at least the 2nd album wasn’t quite as good as the first. In fact that’s quite common these days, particularly with British bands. Take Me Out will live on as a classic anyway
