Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows

Wednesday, January 10th, 2007

The new Harry Potter book ‘The Deathly Hallows’ is already top of the Amazon.co.uk bestsellers list. This is before the book is released, has a release date or is even finished being written by J.K Rowling! (Pictured below) (more…)

The View - Same Jeans

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

This is my song of the week, well I’m a week early as it’s not out until next Monday the 15th January. It’s a great single by Scottish band The View, hailing from just outside Dundee. They’ve been around for nigh on 2 years now but haven’t really had much coverage or success until they may do with this potential chart topper. Take a look at the video and let me know what you think. Personally, I find it an instantly appealing slice of indie goodness, which is ultra catchy… (more…)

Women… Know Your Limits!

Friday, January 5th, 2007

Now, before all of you of a female persuasion kick off with me for being a sexist pig, take a minute to hear me out. I was searching You Tube for something or other the other day when I remembered a particular clip from Harry Enfield And Chums, a great comedy programme from the 90s starring Harry Enfield, Paul Whitehouse and Kathy Burke. I found it and I had to share, it still makes me laugh even now, and just remember they don’t mean it, they are taking the mick out of the old public information films of the 40s and 50s. Enjoy…

Celebrity Big Brother Is Here!…

Big Brother UK Logo

Oh yes it is, oh no it’s not, oh yes blah blah etc etc. I’ve started like that as this year’s show looks set to be the biggest pantomime of a show so far. The house has changed very little from the summer series of “ordinary people” BB, with a double bed thrown in just to make life that little bit harder for the celebs. Davina McCall delighted in showing us round the house before the main course which as throwing the 11 celebrites into said house for up to 4 weeks. This is the longest run of the show ever and it needed a good mix, and that’s exactly what it has. So without further waffling from me, here is the line up, with a few comments from me thrown in for good measure. (more…)

Best British TV Of 2006

Wednesday, January 3rd, 2007

The first of my review and round ups of last year’s best of British Pop Culture is focussed on television. So what were we watching and enjoying last year here in Britain, and what were the turkeys that sank without trace, hardly registering on the viewing scale?

We start with the best, with my highlights of the year… (more…)

London’s New Year’s Eve Party Spectacular

Tuesday, January 2nd, 2007

Before reviewing any “stuff” such as music, films and TV from the last year, I was so blown away by the show London staged to bring 2007 in, I had to share it with anyone unfortunate enough not to have seen it. Ok, from what I saw, Tokyo, Sydney and New York all did great jobs, but London kicked butt yet again with an awesome light and fireworks show. I chose to highlight someone’s personal video rather than footage taken straight from the telly as it gives the whole thing a “I was there” feeling. So for your pleasure, here is the full (and surely very expensive) show, in three parts. Enjoy… (more…)

Well folks, all you lads and lasses who venture to read my blog from time to time, it’s that day that they call January 1st! As if you didn’t already know. I hope you’ve all recovered from the drink fuelled/drug ingesting/sinful times you may or may not have had last night in the run up to midnight. I. of course was sat at home, reading War And Peace with a cup of cocoa… uh huh. (more…)
