Victoria Beckham Too Tight To Be Scientologist!

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

Claims that Victoria and David Beckham would be converting to Scientology because of their close friendship with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are premature according to pals of the millionaire former spice girl.

David And Victoria Beckham

thesuperficial.com report the following comments…
There’s no way I’d spend any money on that nonsense,” she told a friend recently about the faith founded by author L. Ron Hubbard. Says another pal: “It’s completely laughable that there’s even talk of her becoming a Scientologist. Just because people are friends with someone doesn’t mean they do everything they do. Scientology is like Kabbala in that it’s become all about money. Kabbala bracelets are now $28! It’s a joke. Scientology is an expensive religion; Victoria is too cheap to convert.(more…)

Bloc Party - The Prayer

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

This is the excellent new single and video from Bloc Party called ‘The Prayer’

They are one of, if not the best British bands of this century, and this song, the first off their new album, carries on where they left off with ‘Silent Alarm’, The album of 2005. This single came out in the UK yesterday and I’m praying (geddit) it does well in the charts so the band get the recognition they so throughly deserve. This new album, and first single with it seems very natural, with the same style but an increase in skill and maturity coupled with it. I’ll be doing a full review of the album ‘A Weekend In The City’ after a good few listens. But for now as I can’t resist, here’s my favourite single and video by the band…

Amy Winehouse Kicked Out For Singing

Friday, January 26th, 2007

Jazz Pop songstress and Brit Awards nominee Amy Winehouse was thrown out of London’s posh Savoy Hotel for singing, according to The Sun. Gathered around the piano with Amy were Jamie Cullum, Michael Ball and comedian Craig Cash, while she belted out jazz standards such as ‘They Can’t Take That Away From Me’. The singer was enjoying herself when the stuffy manager asked her to leave and despite her protestations, was lead away by friends. (more…)

Children Of Men

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

This is a film that passed me by when it was released last summer, to critical but not commercial success. What can I say? There was other stuff going on, such as James Bond and X-Men 3! Plus of course, this blog wasn’t in existence then so I wasn’t so in tune with the releases and buzz surrounding various films, music and TV programmes. Regardless, the Oscar nominations and DVD release of ‘Children of Men’ has made me take a look at it, and I find it’s an incredibly well made and exciting story with a top cast. (more…)

Keira Knightley Sues For Being Thin

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

British actress Keira Knightley is suing a British newspaper over claims she is anorexic. The Pirates Of The Caribbean star, who was recently pictured on a beach in a series of bikini shots has reached the end of the tether over the constant press attention of her size and weight. The Daily Mail, a British tabloid who seem to specialise in sensationalist front pages, claimed Keira lied about having an eating disorder. (more…)

Learning: Thursday’s storm - the most powerful to hit England since Burns Night 1990 - caused even more damage in northern Europe after developing what’s known as a “sting jet”, caused by cold air high above the clouds rushing down to Earth like an avalanche of high wind.

Big Brother Race Row

Friday, January 19th, 2007

This story is huge, it’s all over the UK, in the newspapers (both tabloid and broadsheet), Internet forums, Workplaces and watercoolers… It’s even made it into parliament. It’s the Celebrity Big Brother race row! Dun dun duuuuuuun.

For those of you not in the know, basically anyone not living in the UK or India, here’s a rundown of what’s been going on over the last week… (more…)

Association Football - A Guide

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

A guide to football, or soccer, at least according to Harry Enfield And Chums. I thought this might prove useful to anyone, particularly Americans who are just now getting into the sport that is soccer, maybe because of David Beckham’s recent mega money move to L.A. Galaxy, maybe for some more convoluted reason. So sit back and enjoy a quick 3 minute guide to Association football… (more…)

Keane - A Bad Dream

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

This is the new single by the British vocal pop group Keane, and it’s a cracker! Called ‘Bad Dream’, it’s out in the UK next Monday the 22nd of January. I love it, and the album it comes from which is ‘Under The Iron Sea’, the group’s 2nd studio album, which was released last year. (more…)

Leo Sayer Leaves Big Brother And Looks Like A ****

Monday, January 15th, 2007

Obviously the word in the post title is actually ‘Plum’, I would never venture to call the man that is Leo Sayer any 4 letter word worse than that but still…

For those of you who aren’t having the pleasure and sometimes pain of watching this year’s Celebrity Big Brother, Leo Sayer sensationally left the house on Friday morning (Hours before he was due to be evicted) because Big Brother wouldn’t provide him with any clean underwear. The fact that there were washing provisions provided and every other celebrity whose taken part, not only this year, has managed to lower themselves enough to wash their own smalls, seemed to be beyond the 70s pop midget.
He decided he’d had enough, smashed open a fire exit door and escaped into the hands of security guards and producers. (more…)

Beckham Signs For L.A. Galaxy!

Friday, January 12th, 2007

The back pages moved to the front pages of the tabloids yesterday and today as speculation and finally confirmation of footballer David Beckham’s move to a new club. Currently the superstar and former England captain plys his very lucrative career for Real Madrid in Spain but with his £120,000 a week contract coming to an end, both the club and player decided the time was ripe to move on.. Gordon Ramsay Panned By Critics

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

Gordon Ramsay, the man seemingly untouchable, and with the world his oyster, has been receiving some harsh criticism… at last. The man who takes immense pleasure in degrading, belittling and rounding on people who he deems not to be up to the job, has been getting some of his own medicine.

Gordon Ramsay

He opened his first New York restaurant ‘Gordon Ramsay at the London’ last month and the world renowned and usually very scathing New York restaurant critics have been dining out there in force ready to give their opinions. And it’s not good. The £3 Million venture has been laid into by a few critics, leaving Gordon allegedly fuming. Some of the comments included Ramsay being accused of serving up “overcooked” sea scallops, “leathery” lobster ravioli, and a mushroom risotto branded a “distinct disappointment”. (more…)
