13/02/07 New Single Picks Of The Week
There’s some great new singles out this week in the UK, so I thought I’d highlight some of the best. Here are my four picks for this week courtesy of YouTube.
We start with Snow Patrol and ‘Open Your Eyes’. From the album ‘Eyes Open’, this is a great slice of pop very much in keeping with their tried and trusted sound. The video is great too, with actual footage from the classic cult film C’était un rendez-vous by director Claude Lelouch.
Next is Corinne Bailey Rae’s new single called ‘I’d like to’. It’s a beautiful song which really shows off her voice to it’s full potential. The video is a live version from a Radio 1 Live Lounge session she performed last year.
The Towers Of London are a historic landmark… but also a band who were notorious for raucus gigs, usually ending in riots. And then lead singer Donny Tourette entered the Celebrity Big Brother house and their notoriety and fame went up. Here’s their video for new single ‘I’m A Rat’ which I like, even though I know I shouldn’t.
I’ve saved the best until last with The Feeling and ‘Rose’. this song is pure class, like the whole of the ‘Twelve Stops And Home’ album it comes from. This band broke through last year playing the festivals, and that’s where I first spotted them. They’ve had a slow rise to the top but I can see them growing in popularity as more people get to see them live and hear their pure guitar pop songs. The album version of this song is much better but what can you do?! Enjoy…
