08/06/2007 On The British Jukebox This Week…
Carrying on the attempt at educating anyone who thinks British music ended with The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, here is another selection of great music from the UK. It’s all handpicked by me, and whether you think it’s great, OK, or downright unlistenable, just let me know by using ye olde comment box down there!
The Clash - London Calling
The Specials - Ghost Town
Duran Duran - The Reflex
Madness - Baggy Trousers
The Klaxons - Golden Skans
Let me know what you think of the above songs and bands. Have they travelled across the world and made it big in other countries? Have you ever even heard of them? What do you think of British music in general, good or a load of tripe? If any of the songs I’ve featured grabbed you, let me know and I’ll either feature more from that band or write a full feature on them.

The only one that I didn’t know of was The Klaxons, but that’s a damn fine tune. The other bands were all pretty huge here in Canada in their time.
Do you take requests? It’s been ages since I’ve heard Cast.
Of course I could search for the CD which is somewhere around here …

The Klaxons were my nod to the new bands, the reast are very retro. I’m glad they all reached Canada in their time, as they all rock!
I do take requests, and will add Cast to next week’s jukebox

Sweet! Great selections here. I’m not familiar with The Klaxons either, but I’ll have to give that track a listen when I get home tonight. I haven’t heard “London Calling” in ages, either.
British music is definitely more than the Beatles and the Stones. I have a fondness for a lot of it… but then, I’m a child of the 80s, too. New Wave!

Leslie, thanks for liking my choices
I don’t mog but I’ve checked out your page and may well start doing!
Kathy, New wave indeed lol. I’m also a child of the 80s, well born in 77 but don’t really remember much lol. But I actually find it the worst decade. I much prefer the Sixties, and current music. Thanks for listening to the songs and commenting.
